A Beautiful Rough Draft of Tokyo DisneySea

As we finish up 2017, I wanted to give you something a little special. This rendering is the fourth in a series of work by the great Disney Imagineer Peter Ellenshaw. As would surely be expected looking at the end result, Tokyo DisneySea concept art is as stunning as the park. The Imagineers were given the proper budget through the Oriental Land Company to do the job well- and my bet is based on the financial return, that decision was never regretted.

Certainly, there is not a more stunning Asian park to be found. Not Shanghai, not Hong Kong, not the sure to be happening with the Twenty First Century Fox acquisition, the Magic Kingdom in India.

Even More Peter Ellenshaw on Tokyo DisneySea

Imagineer Peter Ellenshaw has done some amazing concept pieces for Tokyo DisneySea! I've already shown a few on this blog, but I have some more to show. Here's Lost River Delta from the air. From the beautiful purple blue sky, the temple for Indiana Jones stands above the jungle tree line, drawing brave guests into an exploration never to be forgotten.  The Crystal Skull may have been a relative artistic flop of a movie due to George Lucas and his alien insistence, but the story the Imagineers created for the attraction - long before the movie was even considered - is first class from any angle. You could say that about the entire park, though, couldn't you?

More Tokyo DisneySea From the Air

From the sand to the sea. Tokyo DisneySea, that is! It is the Disney park that sets the standard for everything after it. Boasting absolutely beautiful landscapes anywhere a guest looks, this lovely and groundbreaking park the pinnacle of Imagineering art come to life. Peter Ellenshaw's concept art of Mermaid Lagoon sparkles in the afternoon light, perhaps the "golden hour" right before sunset. It's also a businessman's dream, bringing in guests by the millions with numbers almost as high as that of Tokyo Disneyland next door. Quite an accomplishment!

The attraction list is short an "E Ticket" here in this particular land, but the stunningly stellar environment both outside and under the sea has been drawing in guests of all ages from the start. Perhaps you can see why.

Tokyo DisneySea from the Air

It's not everyday you see Disney Imagineering concept art that's new to the eye. Here's a beautiful piece, a look at Tokyo DisneySea from the air by Imagineer Peter Ellenshaw. It's moody, warmly atmospheric, and it's almost impressionistic in its look. Mount Prometheus and the Mysterious Island - iconic in their Jules Verne beauty stand out among the other areas waiting to be discovered in the park.

The Oriental Land Company took a major financial risk in building this most beautiful and very, very expensive of all Disney parks. It's paid off handsomely as Tokyo DisneySea is one of the most visited parks in Disney history- and one of the most coveted by fans that don't live in Japan. I'd say it puts Shanghai Disneyland to shame many times over.
