America Gone Crazy

Starting with President Donald Trump, it's time for America to grow up. Stop the violence. Say what you will, but violence accomplishes nothing. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was right. Our great democracy was founded on godly principles. We have moved so far from what God intended. We are seeing the fruit of that. It's time to look within and act with humility before God. We are sinners, and the current state of Washington D.C. and our nation prove it. Human life is sacred. But when a nation chooses to kill its unborn children, kill its elderly, and lynch and enslave and degrade those because of their skin color- and that's just the beginning- we've lost our sense of decency and humanity and purpose. Is it any wonder why we find violence acceptable? We've become animals. I'm disgusted, and you should be as well. Can President Elect Joe Biden and company bring real unity to a nation gone mad? I doubt it. Neither could Barack Obama. It must be a work from God- and we must each look inside first... and repent before God.

A Day of Compromise

I beg you who claim to follow Jesus Christ to consider the following verses:

“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.  For it has been reported to me by His people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Biden,” or “I follow Trump,” or “I follow an independent candidate,” or “I follow no one.”  Is Christ divided? Was Trump crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Biden?  

I thank God that I proselytized none of you into my political views, so that no one may say that you were transformed by my party of preference.  For Christ did not send me to put my hope in politics but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.”  (1 Corinthians 1:10-17- Rewritten by this author.)

Family of Christ, let’s be wise. It’s true we’re forced into choosing between two candidates whose morals and character and choices are compromised and whose agendas can never fully represent what God values. Yes, be informed voters who carry the eternal values of our Heavenly Kingdom and not those of the world, but imagine if we placed this same energy into sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ! What a glorious eternal kingdom we can be part of building! Beyond the results of the election, we will still be brothers and sisters in Christ with a shared goal of proclaiming Jesus Christ and Him alone as Lord, King, and Savior. Be blessed today!

Superman Salutes the US Flag

Today is the anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks against the United States. It seems like so long ago (19 years), but I can remember the events of the day clearly as I had a friend in New York who was in the area near the Towers. Now, our nation is under siege by a different kind of terrorist- those who are willing to destroy life and property as they protest the unfair systematic racism in our country. Defunding the police is not the answer- reforming the system is part of it- but reforming the heart of men and women is the true answer. Only Jesus can do that! Biden can't and neither can Trump. Politics cannot save us from ourselves. 

Disneyland has the sheer class to continue the flag retreat ceremony regardless of the situation in our nation. Walt Disney was a man who was rightfully proud of our foundation, even if he was flawed like each of us. God Bless America- but we must fully return to Him humbly if we are to see things change in our country. Put your hope in God and not man. Man will always fail you.

Goodbye for Now, Billy Graham

"America's Pastor" Billy Graham has passed at age 99. It's a sad day for American Christians and many around the world, but he is resting in the arms of Jesus. I love this quote from him, 

"Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.”

That said, what's far more important is that he focused on the message of Jesus Christ and him alone. For years, he has been faithful to proclaim that Jesus is the only way to God, the only way to eternal rest in heaven, and that the ways of man and any other religion are useless. 

Billy never swayed from calling sin for what it was and reminding people that Jesus' death on the cross was the only payment for our sin, moving us from a place of shame to a place of honor as part of God's family. All because of God's great love for the human race, Jesus was straightforward and plain about it. (See the book of John chapter 14.) Billy never forgot that. It was due to God's love Jesus was sent and His death and resurrection only proved He was who he said he was.

Here's Billy's final prayer for the world given on his 99th birthday last November:

""I've been praying that we might have a spiritual awakening," Graham said. "I think that becomes possible only as individuals surrender their lives afresh and anew to Christ."

There's a reason why American Presidents during his lifetime requested an audience with him to provide prayer and counsel. The man was not perfect, but he was wise, focused, and attempted to live a life of integrity. I, for one, will miss his influence on our nation and its leaders.

Griffin Goes Too Far

Kathy Griffin had better be thankful she lives in the United States. In another country, in a different world, her actions would have her immediately in prison or she would silently disappear never to be seen again.

This image from TMZ shows Griffin holding the head of a dummy of President Trump just after beheading. Is she making an example of what ISIS would do to those who go against their beliefs? Is she stating what she would like to do to the President? Or is she just  bigoted? Is this a publicity demanding celebrity expressing hatred in a way that will get her noticed? 

When even the liberal left takes a stand against her actions, you have to know it's pretty bad. I hope this image never disappears from the web. It's proof positive that hatred comes from all sides of the political spectrum.
