The Grandest Piece of Concept Art for Shanghai Disneyland

Shanghai Disneyland's enormous Enchanted Storybook Castle may be the biggest, tallest, shop, restaurant and attraction filled palace ever, but what would you expect when it is filled with nods to just about every Disney princess ever created? The end result leaves me rather cold, but this piece of concept art makes it very appealing! 

Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure and Tron Lightcycle Power Run are the real stars of the show among the attraction line-up. Will Zootopia attractions bring fresh interest to the park? Who knows? Regardless of what happens in the future to Mainland China's Disney park (and not the other way around), the castle of Imagineering's dreams or nightmares is hugely impressive. So, here it is in the largest size you'll ever find it. Not a Bad Attraction Poster

The Enchanted Storybook Castle in Shanghai Disneyland runs about last in terms of my favorite Disney Magic Kingdom castles. The Chinese government mandated big, big, big, so that's what the Imagineering team gave them. The end result in my opinion (but not shared by my wife) is a big boxy mess. Yet, in terms of its presentation in an attraction poster, the design itself is a pretty cool one. And who doesn't love Disney Attraction Posters?

The Most Excellent Shanghai Disneyland Castle Photo

Until our friend Len Yokoyama visits Shanghai Disneyland for his own set of amazing photos, let me just share with you one of the most incredible photos of their castle! 

This Enchanted Storybook Castle belongs to many princesses, sort of a greatest hits compilation if you will. With the requisite shopping and dining already here, what exactly could the Imagineers add to satisfy the Chinese government who insisted on theirs being the most impressive edifice of all? How about it's own unique attraction, Voyage to the Crystal Grotto. 

From all accounts, what should have been a standout cruise falls short instead as guests journey around a series of fountains until they enter the underground side of the palace. Not too much enchantment to be found there, but no matter. This excellent photo by the folks at Westcoaster serves as a reminder that big and impressive are only one piece of what makes a Disney park special.

Largest Shanghai Disneyland Castle Art Ever

Here it is: The largest piece of Imagineering concept art you can find on the web for Shanghai Disneyland and the Enchanted Storybook Castle... with the Tron Lightcycles Run building and Mickey Avenue. It's so big that you've got to click on it to see it.

New Shanghai Disneyland Map

Here's the latest Shanghai Disneyland map in the brightest display and the strongest resolution I've ever seen. It looks to be fantastic!

If the reports are right, the park is not even close to completed. There's still large amounts of greenery to go in and well as some major work to be done on attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and even the centerpiece, Enchanted Storybook Castle. 

We will have to wait and see if that Spring 2016 opening really occurs or if Robert Iger needs to make another speech about how important China is to the company... while there are more delays. Time will tell, but for now, click on this and enjoy!

Another Shanghai Disneyland Enchanted Storybook Castle Shot

Sometimes a guy just has to post to mark a great discovery! And here it is- another piece of concept art for Shanghai Disneyland's beautiful and big Enchanted Storybook Castle.
