A Night Out with the Rockies

They may currently be the baseball team with the most dismal record, but an evening out last night with friends to see the Colorado Rockies play was still great fun! Yes, Chicago whipped us badly, but what can I say?
 

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

The Great American Pastime of watching baseball is even more fun when it's with people you love! The look on my grandsons' faces tells the whole story. I just want to know why my daughter-in-law is not showing her team spirit. Just joking!

Baseball, Baja, and Disneyland

That's me, up to the bat in about 1968. We were in Baja California, Estero Beach to be exact. This was back when the area was a simple campground, nothing more.

Our friend Maria helped her parents manage the campground, and we came back year after year beginning in about 65 or 66. Then, something fun happened. In 1969, my father got permission for us to take her to our home in Orange County for about a week including a trip to Disneyland! To say she was thrilled would be an understatement...

Winning At Life

Tim Tebow may not have a career in the Major Leagues coming his way anytime soon, but it doesn't matter. In a world where too many sports heroes are world class jerks if not felons, Tebow stands out as being a winner in the game of life. Way more important for this world and the next. Go Tim!

42 Hits a Home Run

Generally, I am not a big fan of sports hero stories, although I have succumbed at times to the hoopla surrounding a particularly good movie. 42 stands among the best.

Harrison Ford - I am a huge fan- has never been better, redeeming himself for making Indiana Jones 4 and that awful script. This true life "buddy" movie of sorts belongs to newcomer Chadwick Boseman. He is incredible as baseball's Jackie Robinson. 

Everyone knows the story about how the two men partnered to break the color barrier in Major League Baseball. What they don't know is what lies beneath- and that is what gives this film its power. Go see it- worth the money, the time, and the emotional energy.
