Comedians Bill Skiles and Pete Henderson joined the Carpenters tour and even make an appearance on the duo's first live in concert album, Live in Japan. Obviously, the comedians also hit it off with Richard and Karen Carpenter. Here, Pete Henderson is seen next to Karen in the Carpenter family home in December of 1973. The tinsel covered Christmas tree shines little compared to that radiant, still healthy Ms. Carpenter. In just a few years, the successes and stresses of fame would take its deathly toll. It's too bad on so many levels! No one gives Christmas music the respect its deserves like Karen and Richard. Check out the duo's 1978 Christmas Portrait album and then 1984's An Old Fashioned Christmas, released a year after she passed. For a truncated version of these albums, Christmas Once More could be your best bet, but I'd buy the first two albums in full instead. If you're a fan of the duo, keep your eyes open for something very special...

Wow Mark, that's a new one to me, as I've never seen that picture before. I agree, that she looked so beautiful and healthy back then. What a smile!
Thanks for reading, John!
