The "M" of A&M Records, Jerry Moss passed away at 88 years old today. Along with musician Herb Alpert, the duo created a fabulous record label that brought many, many beloved artists to the radios and homes of those all over the world. Jerry's pictured here right in the center of two of the label's most successful artists, Richard and Karen Carpenter. (One time producer Jack Daugherty is on the far left, Herb on the right.)
Jerry was a solid Rock and Roll guy, but gave the duo its due when the Carpenters elegant Horizon album was released with its beautiful renditions of the hit Only Yesterday, I Can Dream Can't I and Solitaire. Enlarge the image above and read his letter to Richard. Definitely a classy thing to do! Rest in Peace Mr. Moss... and thank you.
