Sedaka's Bad Blood with the Carpenters Continues

So Neil Sedaka wrote the incredibly mesmerizing Solitaire for Clay Aiken? Really? His website would have you believe it. Funny, I thought that song was made famous by Karen Carpenter and her brother Richard.  The catalogue for the Cerritos Center listed this biographical blurb to advertise Sedaka's appearance on September 21st of this year.

On their classic album Horizon, the Carpenters gave this tune the definitive version and placed a lot of cash in Sedaka's wallet. It was the first of his two songs they recorded, the second being Breaking Up is Hard to Do found on A Kind of Hush

Unfortunately, a shared concert in Las Vegas back in 1975 ruined a growing friendship and professional relationship. (You can read all about its here.) It seems as if poor little Neil is still harboring grudges after all these years.

Bad Blood indeed!
