Although there are many artists that have blessed the Disney Company by executing their craft, Herb Ryman seems to stand out among the pack. His designs are elegant and stunning in execution- quite beautiful pieces of art even without a tie in to Disney attractions.
Found in the wonderful book, The Art of Disneyland, this is his last completed piece of work specifically for the park before his death in 1989. Although many of the details found in this concept were not used for the exterior of the Indiana Jones Adventure, Herb successfully captured the air of excitement, drama, and suspense found within the attraction. May he rest in peace.
