Your should write your own reviews. Your phrases instantly brought me back to my youth and first experiencing Karen's inviting warmth and Richard's brilliant arrangements. No, you are 100% correct. I'm just a little younger than you and this has been a favorite album for my whole life. At the time of it's release I was not a musician. That would become a thing for me until much later. But, seeing that I LOVED harmonies, was drawn to all things harmonies, and always had the knack to sing an instant harmony to anything it seemed (I consider Simon and Garfunkel my first music teachers) that path was probably inevitable. Listening with those ears is a treat. This album is so well done. Yes, Richard Carpenter didn't get the credit he deserved.

As much as I appreciate this album in that regard, it has a whole life of it's own on an emotional level for me. Though I would only fully recognize the weight of my circumstances years later, as a kid into adulthood I suffered from constant depression. This album was SOOOOOO important because I would listen to it, and the raw emotionality made me feel that I was not alone in my pain. There are a Number of album that are favorites due to that.

But.

That voice.....

Has there EVER been an artist who could sing and on the very first note invite you in, as if she's singing directly TO YOU????

Again, thank you so much for the work you put in.

Mike Alexander... aka...
